Sensei Ian Simpson Departure from BKG

To all Belvoir Karate Members,

Recently Sensei Ian told me of his intentions to operate elements of his ‘Car Colston’ club separately from the Belvoir Karate Group. These changes meant that his club would not have been a fully integrated member of the group, but more of an ‘affiliated’ club. Unfortunately this format doesn’t fit in with the BKG structure at present. Ian and I were unable to find a way to make this work which, sadly means that Ian will be leaving Belvoir Karate Group.

As you will know, Ian has played a large and important part in our group since joining us. He has taken two gradings with us, now holding the rank of 3rd Dan, he has been a member of the BKG grading panel and was one of our groups senior instructors. Although he will no longer be fulfilling these roles within ‘BKG’ I hope he, and his students will continue to train with us on a regular basis.

Ian is leaving to develop his own club without the constraints of being part of a group and needless to say, I and the Belvoir Karate Group instructors wish him every success with all his endeavours.
